YOGA @ FLITEFIT
At FliteFit we practice Vinyasa or Yoga Flow where the asanas (poses) and prana (energy/breath) are inter-connected in a flowing sequence of movements. The focus is on being present, stretching and strengthening the muscles of the skeletal, respiratory and cardiovascular systems and cultivating the strength, flexibility and resilience of the mind, body and spirit. We encourage all members, regardless, of age, fitness level or sporting discipline, to incorporate yoga into their lives.
Please remember, it is your practice and your best teacher resides within you. Listen to your body and adjust your practice to suit your needs. Ultimately, only you can determine your best range of movement and depth of asanas for your body and our teachers are always happy to offer adaptions to allow you to gain the most from your yoga experience.
Our yoga is structured in the following levels:
Yoga Stretch (Wed, 9am): Basic level. For anyone wanting the benefits of yoga with no experience or flexibility required. Mainly a floor based practice, guiding through the alignment of lighter postures and yogic breathing with blocks and straps used to help ease into accessing an easier range of movement.
Align & Flow Yoga (Tues 10am; Fri 7am): Level 1 - Connected Sequences/Asanas. All levels are welcome. You will experience vinyasa sequences as well as static postures where we build up strength , balance and breathing. The use of blocks and straps is always encouraged to help ease you into accessing an easier range of movement. A basic understanding of yoga postures would be beneficial but is not essential.
Align & Flow Yoga (Mon 6.15pm; Wed 6.15pm): Level 1-2. Grow your practice. This mixed level class allows you to explore more challenging asana variations with the detail and support of a level 1 class. The practice will be dynamic yet playful with modifications provided to offer your practice room to grow as you develop greater body mind awareness. Vinyasa classes link breath with movement, are often sweat inducing, energetic and deeply cleansing for the body while focusing the mind to engage in the fullness of life! Level 1 class recommended before attending.
KIM RINTEL - Yoga & Meditation Teacher. Kim is certified as a LEVEL 3 YOGA AUSTRALIA Yoga Teacher (highest level offered) having taught Yoga & Meditation for over 10 years and having completed a min of 1000 hours of yoga teacher training. Kim has taught internationally over 3,000 public and private classes and run countless workshops, she maintains a committed self practice of personal inquiry and growth. YogaAustralia is the governing body for Yoga in Australia and only Level 3/Senior Level teachers can register teacher training courses with YogaAustralia. Kim teaches mainly Vinyasa/Flow with a focus on developing the breath. She offers a slightly modern twist to her musically infused classes whilst deeply honouring the ancient tradition of Yoga.
Mandy Habener - Yoga Teacher. Mandy first came to yoga as a practitioner in 2007 seeking balance and improved flexibility. It wasn't until corporate burnout hit five years later that she honoured a calling to expand her yoga practice. This was followed by intensives and yoga training in Bali followed by travel to India to study yoga therapy, philosophy and vedic chanting. She then acquired Stand Up Paddle Yoga teaching qualifications in Singapore. More recently she returned to India undertaking a further 500hr teacher training (Hatha, Vinyasa and Yoga Therapy). Mandy believes that there is a yoga practice suitable for everyone and aims to provide a fun, safe and supportive environment for her students to embark on their own journey of mindful movement.
Emily Odillo - Yoga Teacher. Emily has taught Yoga and Meditation full time for almost a decade in a range of settings, such as schools, studios, corporate classes, private sessions, as well as workshops and retreats. Emily started teaching with Yoga Synergy in Sydney and most recently has been based in Byron Bay teaching for Creature Yoga. She has completed over 1,500 hrs of different training and is also a qualified Yoga therapist (600 hr). In Byron, she was also teaching Yoga (as therapy) at a private drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre, working with clients with addictions and mental health issues. Emily teaches a Hatha/Vinyasa style of yoga with a focus on alignment, relaxed movement, breath awareness and incorporates mindfulness into the practice. Whether it’s your first time or you’re a seasoned yogi, you’ll feel completely comfortable and taken care of throughout the experience.
